HEALTH & MEDICAL NEEDS

There is nothing more important than the health and safety of our campers and staff. Camp Spin Off takes this responsibility very seriously. We are pleased to work closely with the staff of our host campsite, Forest Home Ojai Valley on our camper’s health and safety.

Medical Consent Form

Prior to arriving at camp, parents or guardians are required to fill out a Medical Consent Form provided by our host, Forest Home Ojai Valley. On this form parents can indicate any chronic illnesses, physical handicaps and any special medical needs a camper may require.

Medications at Camp

Campers with over-the-counter or prescription medications will meet with the Forest Home First Aid staff upon arrival. All medications (excluding inhalers) will be administered by Forest Home First Aid staff based on the prescriptions provided. Campers that require injections (Type 1 Diabetes) must complete an additional Special Needs Medical form that includes written consent that a camper can administer their injections. Details on how to transport medications are also provided in the Medical Consent Form.

Food and Environmental Allergies

The Camp kitchen is completely nut free. Campers with any other allergies, including environmental allergies should indicate these both on the Camp Spin Off Registration Form and the separate Medical Consent Form Campers provide prior to camp.

Vaccination Policy

After in depth discussions and reviewing recommendations from leading health resources, the Board of Directors has more clearly defined the Camp Spin Off policy on Immunizations, effective immediately.  We will now require that all children, campers, staff and volunteers planning to attend/participate in Camp Spin Off be immunized in accordance with Senate Bill 277.

While we are not required to abide by the requirements set forth by Sentate Bill 277 since we are a private organization, we are following the lead of the California public and private school systems to mirror these such requirements to ensure the wellbeing of our entire community.

Beginning with the summer of 2017, documentation of the administration of at least the first doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Tdap/dtap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis), and Meningitis, must be provided prior to attending/participating in Camp Spin Off. We encourage you to consult with your healthcare provider and to take steps now to meet these new requirements.
